An American is a hardworking, brave, and respectful individual. Those three adjectives summarize what an American is, whether old or young, poor or wealthy, white or blue collar.
An American is a hard worker. He is continuously using his brains and wits to invent new technology and wow the world. He has been exploring space and has made so many advances in all the fields. There is no limit to his resourcefulness.
An American is brave. He came to this land to live his life to its fullest potential. He is patriotic and willing to fight for his beliefs no matter how high the costs. It is by bravery, perseverance, and hard work that he liberated his country from the British colonial powers.
An American is respectful to his fellow countrymen and women and therefore to his country. He lives under the Constitution of the United States of America that was written by his ancestors and recites the "Pledge of Allegiance" with honor and pride. The country was founded on the principles of integrity and high moral value.
To sum it all up, one needs only to take a look at the word "American" and derive two verbs: "Am" and "can." An American is who I "am" and what I "can" do for myself, my family, and my country.
