Mr. Hillestad knits, embroiders, dyes, paints, sews and experiments with combinations of all these techniques. He is known for his wearable art. He brought many examples of his work including the first unveiling of the "Meadowlark." Mr. Hillestad is a retired professor of the Department of Textiles, Clothing, and Design at the University of Nebraska.
