MARCH
IS YOUTH ART MONTH
During the month of March art teachers across the nation showcase
and celebrate children's art. "Every child has the innate urge
and capacity to be artisticly expressive. Arts education requires
students to draw upon their creative abilities and to deepen them
as well. The benefit is that creative thinking, once learned early,
lasts a lifetime and can be applied in other endeavors." -
School Arts Magazine
Students at Hill School are displaying their artworks throughout
our Hill hallways. Look for multi-media still life compositions
created by K-5th grade students currently on display in our main
hallway-gallery areas.
Fifth grade students worked for months on the new Hill banner for
the Lincoln Public Elementary Schools Traveling Banner Display.
Their beautiful "Art of China" (banner will hang at Wells
Fargo Bank, 13th and O Streets) during the month of March, then
travel to fourteen or more locations for the next two years before
it returns to Hill School to become part of our own art collection.
Hill art students also have artworks on display at the Lincoln Children's
Museum, Lied Center for the Performing Arts, DaVinci's, and Mrs.
Russell's office. Six Hill students will have artwork travel to
four different Lincoln businesses for a full year with the LPS-VIP
Traveling Elementary Art Show.
