Greetings from Mr. Z.
It's that time of year again.....Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for February 20th and 25th. Kindergarten will conference on Feb.13th, 18th, & 25th. Appointment books are in the office so you can stop by to sign up for a conference. You may also telephone the office to schedule one. It's best to call the office after 9:30 or so after all the beginning of the day chores are completed. As always, we look forward to seeing all of our families participating in the educational growth of their children.

PTA Science Fair
Now is the time to be thinking about the 2003 Science Fair. Last year we had great participation in the Science Fair and we hope to have even more students participate this year.
The Hill Science Fair will be held on Thursday, February 27th. Set up will be from 3:30 till 6:00 pm. The judging will begin at 6:30 and be completed by 8:00 pm. Those choosing to participate need to fill out the registration form that was sent home with the students. Anyone needing ideas or help should contact their teacher, see Mrs. Pardee for resource books from the library or contact Judy Krueger 423-0779. Each participant will receive the Pfizer-LPS booklet filled with lots of good ideas. Fifth graders will be eligible to participate in the Pfizer-LPS city wide Science Fair on March 4th. Everyone who loves science will enjoy participating in this Science Fair. Here is the chance to dig deep into Science, get your hands dirty, impress your friends. So sign up now and return your registration form to school by February 1st. Thank you for making 2003 the best Science Fair ever!!

Explore! After School Enrichment Classes
Come join the fun! Registrations for after school classes in language or chess are now being accepted. Registration will close on Wednesday, January 22nd, with classes starting the first week of February. Please call Sithey Cerv at 421-6032 if you have questions. Ooooops! The tuition price for chess class was not included on the registration sheet. Tuition for chess class is $25.00.

HyVee Dollars for Education/Hill Student Council
Our Student Council will be starting a HyVee receipt collection so save your HyVee receipts!! The turn in dates will be January 20th - April 6th. Student Council kids will collect the receipts, add them up and turn them back in to HyVee. Schools are receiving $1.00 for every $100.00 in receipts up to a maximum of $1000.00 per school. Thanks in advance for helping our student council!

Welcome College Students
Again this semester we will be working with UNL Teachers College so you will see 24 UNL students working in our classrooms. Additionally, a big welcome to student teachers Sarah Dahlberg (Mrs. Kinsey's class) and Amber Nutter (Mr. Thiemann's class).
