Art Donations

Several Hill personnel have donated artwork to Hill School. A very special thanks for their generosity.

Janet Luke is not only the Hill Media paraprofessional, she is the parent of Hill students. Besides working at Hill, raising her family, and reading good books, Mrs. Luke enjoys quilting.

One of her quilts is displayed in the Hill Media Center. The border is shelves of books and it features children reading. Mrs. Luke not only cut out, pieced, and stitched this quilt, she designed it!!

Children at Hill Elementary School have watched Nancy Hatfield's able hands clean up floors, wipe off desks, and make sure Hill school is neat and tidy. This fall the students saw those same hands delicately stitch lovely pictures, because Nancy is Hill's cross-stitching custodian. Each evening she becomes a different person She walks her dogs, then she becomes an artist - except instead of using paint, she uses threads. She has donated a gorgeous cross stitch piece to hang in the schools office, so she was invited to demonstrate her work in art classes as well. Nancy says to "start with a white piece of material. Then it;s sort of like putting a big jigsaw puzzle together. You start stitching small areas, small pieces, and gradually fit them together."

Alida Ferguson is about to embrace a new chapter in her life. After many years of service, she is retiring. Alida began her teaching career in California and has taught several places including Germany. Hill students were fortunate to have her finish her career in Lincoln. She leaves a wonderful legacy in her donation of an original print of "The Generation of Eagles" by Albert M. Wilson.
